RDT participates in the AZTERTUZ programme for the automation of the maintenance of energy infrastructures

RDT is involved in the AZTERTUZ research and innovation programme (2024-2026), an initiative funded by the European Union and the Basque Government as part of the HAZITEK business R&D aid programme. With the file number ZE-2024/00016 and others, this action is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund 2021-2027 (ERDF). AZTERTUZ focuses on the research and development of new inspection technologies based on drone technology and deep learning for the automation of the diagnosis and maintenance of energy infrastructures. The main objective of the project is to position the Basque industry as a benchmark in innovative solutions that enable the robotisation and total automation of these processes, increasing efficiency and safety in inspection and maintenance planning. To achieve this, the project is articulated around several specific objectives: Development of flight and data capture technologies using drones equipped with advanced sensors such as LiDAR, photogrammetry, thermography and contact ultrasound. Implementation of systems for the automatic identification and localisation of faults in areas that are difficult to access, integrating images, BIM models and IoT sensors. Design of a drone platform capable of incorporating robotic heads for non-destructive testing (NDT). Automation of the diagnosis of the state of assets through analysis based on machine learning and multi-criteria criteria. Generation and exploitation of BIM inspection and maintenance models on a digital platform. Intelligent planning of maintenance operations according to the severity of the damage detected, using data analytics. Validation of technologies in test environments selected according to use cases. RDT’s participation in AZTERTUZ reinforces its commitment to technological innovation and its commitment to advanced solutions in the infrastructure inspection and maintenance sector. With this project, the company contributes to the development of cutting-edge technologies that optimise industrial processes and strengthen the competitiveness of the sector in the Basque Country and internationally.

RDT strengthens its presence in Europe with the integration of Swedish firm WeITGlobal

RDT acquires WeITGlobal, a company specialising in IT consulting and solutions, strengthening its position in the Scandinavian market. The integration broadens the group’s international reach and strengthens its offering of engineering and technology solutions. Ericsson, Ikea or Autoliv are some of the main names in the Swedish company’s client portfolio. RDT announces the integration of Swedish firm WeITGlobal into its structure, a strategic move that strengthens the company’s position in Europe and expands its reach in the Scandinavian market. The acquisition, formalised by the end of 2024, allows RDT to add new capabilities and consolidate its offering of consulting, outsourcing and specialised IT resourcing solutions. Headquartered in Lund, Sweden, WeITGlobal has emerged as a key player in the Swedish market since its founding just four years ago. The company has a client portfolio that includes big names such as Ericsson, IKEA and Autoliv, and has demonstrated a remarkable ability to develop and adapt in a highly competitive technological environment. This success reflects the shared values between the two organisations, focused on excellence, innovation and continuous growth. International expansion and impact The integration of WeITGlobal into RDT is a significant step in the internationalisation strategy of the integrated engineering solutions firm. With a strong presence in Denmark since 2019, RDT has consolidated its position in the Nordic region, and now extends this success to Sweden, one of Europe’s most technologically advanced economies. In addition to its operations in Sweden, WeITGlobal brings a team and infrastructure also present in Denmark and India, strengthening the group’s international reach and its ability to offer comprehensive and global solutions to its clients. ‘The acquisition of WeITGlobal is a key step in our strategy to consolidate RDT as a leader in engineering and technology solutions in Northern Europe,’ says Christian Thorn, head of RDT Denmark. ‘The shared vision and values of both organisations will be instrumental in maximising our impact in the region and opening up new opportunities in the global marketplace,’ he adds. John Helt, founder of WeITGlobal, also shared his perspective on the integration: ‘We are delighted to be part of RDT. This union not only represents a great opportunity to take our solutions and expertise to a new level, but also to expand our capabilities across RDT’s global network. We are committed to making this integration a success for all our employees, customers and partners’. Leadership and organisational structure To ensure a smooth transition and strengthen operations in Scandinavia, Christian Thorn, currently RDT’s Country Manager in Denmark, will take over the management of operations in Sweden. WeITGlobal CEO John Helt will become Nordic Key Account Manager. This leadership model ensures close collaboration between the Swedish and Danish teams, enhancing synergy between the two organisations and optimising impact in the region. Thorn’s role will be key to coordinating the integration of the teams and aligning operations with the group’s strategic objectives. ‘WeITGlobal’s experience and positioning will greatly facilitate the strengthening of RDT in such a demanding market as Scandinavia; this agreement is undoubtedly excellent news that puts us in front of exciting challenges and opportunities,’ says Thorn. A promising future The integration also reflects RDT’s commitment to engineering and technology excellence, while underscoring its ability to adapt and grow in highly competitive international markets. In addition, RDT’s expansion into Sweden strengthens the group’s service offering, enabling the company to meet the demands of a broader and more diverse customer base. This includes the ability to offer customised and scalable IT consulting solutions, as well as greater flexibility to tackle complex technology and engineering projects. RDT currently employs more than 1800 people in the main countries in which it operates: Spain, France, UK, Denmark, Portugal, Morocco and Mexico. The company, founded in 2006, has reached this year a turnover of 120 million euros and confirms an average annual business growth of 18% in the last almost two decades of activity.   About RDT At RDT we develop global engineering and information technology solutions that allow our clients to obtain a competitive advantage in the development of projects with advanced technological components. We offer our clients agility, flexibility, excellence and a cutting-edge approach from a sustainable and lasting perspective, positioning ourselves as a trusted strategic partner.
