NewsRDT - Primark Lighting

  • RDT oversaw the lighting commissioning for Primark’s new flagship shop in Conde de Peñalver, Madrid.

  • RDT has been working for more than five years on lighting projects for all Primark shops nationwide.

  • For this project, RDT worked with iGuzzini luminaires, which stand out for their quality and innovative contribution.

In the vibrant area of Conde de Peñalver, Madrid (Spain), stands Primark’s new flagship shop, a space that stands out not only for its innovative design but also for its meticulous lighting. This sophisticated area of the project has been entrusted to RDT, an integrated engineering solutions corporation with an extensive track record in lighting projects.

This wasn’t RDT’s first project for the textile giant, as RDT has been leading the lighting commissioning for all Primark shops in Spain for more than 5 years. The task of commissioning, checking and orienting the lighting in all areas of the shop, is essential to guarantee the quality and coherence of the shopping experience and has been a constant in all of RDT’s projects with Primark, whether in flagship shops or in smaller establishments where it has also worked.

Álvaro Coello, RDT’s project manager, comments: ‘This project at Conde de Peñalver has been particularly exciting for us. Working in a flagship shop always presents unique challenges, but our team is trained and approved in Primark’s brand image, which allowed us to meet the high standards expected. Having only two days to complete commissioning, often between boxes of merchandise, challenged and pushed us to be even more efficient and accurate.

RDT’s precision and professionalism were crucial in meeting these demands and ensuring that the shop presented a welcoming and attractive environment for customers from day one.

High CRI quality luminaires

An outstanding feature of the work carried out by RDT is the use of high-quality luminaires with a high colour rendering index (CRI) by iGuzzini, a well-known lighting brand with over 60 years of experience and a strong innovative character and a strong commitment to the development of lighting culture. The use of these luminaires from the Italian company allows for an accurate and vibrant representation of colours. This is especially important in a fashion shop, where the correct visualisation of the colours of the garments is essential for customers. In addition, the control of the light beam has been optimised to highlight the products and create the right atmosphere in each section of the shop.

Customer experience

Retail lighting is not only a technical issue, but also an integral part of visual marketing. The right lighting not only enhances products, but also influences the experience and behaviour of customers, creating an ambience that can encourage sales and enhance the shopping experience. In this respect, RDT’s work has been crucial in helping Primark to deliver an engaging and consistent shopping experience across all of its shops.

This project is a testament to RDT’s ability to tackle complex challenges and meet the high standards of its clients. RDT’s reliability, cross-cutting vision and precision have been instrumental in creating unique spaces, contributing to the success of one of the world’s most recognised fashion brands.

Over the years, RDT’s Centre of Excellence in BIM, Design & Lighting has gained vast experience and knowledge in the field of commercial lighting, adapting to the demanding standards of international brands such as Primark. The challenges posed by this flagship store are an example of RDT’s commitment to excellence and innovation, aspects which have been key to the success of the projects carried out.
